joselyn barahona
This year's math has helped me a lot. I've learned about many helpful things such as power point and how to use Google docs which can be helpful in college. In the Community Box unity and Alice unit I learned about volume and how to justify everything I do as well as many formulas. Yes I would like to send my letter to the company I can make money off of it :) Wan the only thing youi can approve on is being specific with homework and try to give everyone and equal amount of attention but other than that you are a great teacher

11.4 Joselyn Barahona exit slip
The overall task was how can we determine the minimum surface area while keeping the voume the same. It is necessary because it will reduce the surface area of the can but still keep the same volume. It also shows the reader what we did. Since the whole PBAt is to save the company money by using less material but still have the same amount of proudct.

11.4 joselyn babrhona 5/3 exit slip
The new surface area will be used to get the height of my can and to simplify the function. The ultimate goal of finding this new function was how can we take this and apply it to our obat in order to subtitue our heights into the SA formula for our can.
I can visually take this this funtion and show the relationship between the height and the surface area of my can by changing the height and subsituting it into the SA formula

It is necessary for us to combine the two formulas because we must find the height of either a cylinder or of its for a pentagonal prism. Once you find the height you can than substitute it into the surface area formula. Which then makes everything much simpler for us.
I can apply the skills when finding the height of my can.I would first find the height of my can and justify each of my steps. Then I would take the height and substitute it into the SA formula. Then I would simplify and justify all of my steps.

The overall task of this PBAT is to minimize the surface area, while maintaining the the volume of the content. We have to determine our radius, diamter, surface area, and volume of the our cans. The consumer wants us to show them dimension of the old can and the dimension of the new can and the explanation to go along with it. The want the before and after

The important concept of today's lesson was to find out the height.
I used the calculator and google spreadsheet. It ehlped because I was able to amke my table . It was easy because all i had to do was plug in te numbers

I did not use anybody's help during class, except to get the notes and Kadesha helped me with that. I was able to calculate my volume for the can which came out to be v=451.936. I also got the surface area calculation which I did not have the time however to get the calculations because the period ended.
I learned how to get the radius of my can and learned that I had to repeat this step a couple of times to get close to getting a right answer. I also learned how to get my height using a ruler (cm).
I can use this skill outside of school when ever I want to measure of get calculations for anything. This skill will be helpful throughout the making of my PBAT.
One question I do have is, Can I use keep your can ? and was this the first step of our PBAT?

The results of calculations from two functions are shown in table 1. The first function is y1= 4x^+5 and the second function is y2=7x^3+100.
The first column contains some values for the independent variable x. The values go from -25 to 25, they were chosen by random. The scale goes by 5.The most important parts are the maximum, the roots, minimum etc.
The x values were substituted into the y1 function, and the results are found in the second column of table 1. I notice that as the x-values increased the y-values increase. In the function y2 the x-values also increase and the y-values increase. (o,o) is both the minimum and maximum

I had 4 categories. First category was called Third-degree term and the first column was y=2x^3 the second column was y= -2x^3. The next category is called second degree term and both columns were 0. The first degree term was also 0. Constant was also zero

Exit Slip JB 11.4
The curvature to Y2 compared to y1 is narrower and Y1 is wider compared to Y2
Y1 is vertically shifted up by 100 units compared to Y2 that is shifted down
There is no horizontal shift because the lines have the same pattern.

One thing i learned today was how to use a spreadsheet and share it with Wan
I did not have a major problem today. I was just stuck when choosing a function. next time i will be able to handle it on myself.

& its suppose to be VACA time ! -__-
So me and my group have tons and tons of things to fix on the report and i just cant see if we will be able to pull threw; cross your fingers for us guys. Wan do we get separate individual grades ?!

Progress Update 2 (edited)
Well Wan my group and I generalized by taking the length, width, and height and multiplied them while keeping "x" the same. For example for one of the charts for Fed Ex Ground which was for the box named "square face"the length is (84-6x), the width is (2x), and the height is (x) so we took those three and made our generalized form which is (84-6x)(x)(2x).
The way we got those numbers for length is because in order to get length you need to subtract total minus the girth. The total was already given to us by FedEx Ground. The girth we got is w+h+w+h which gave me 6x. so that's how I got (84-6x). As for the height we decided that it will be the same as x to make our life simple. So for example if x=5 height will be 5. And width we decided that it'll be twice as much as heights. So for example if my height was 5 the width would be 10.
When organizing our data my group and I simply made different tables for each different type of box for that company. Each chart had its x, length, width, height, girth, total, and volume column.
After organizing the data we began to graph. The x axis scale is two and y-axis scale is 500 hundreds. The graph makes the two turns. But we have not yet put our findings together.

progress
Wan amanda told me this was the homework..... So well my group has fallen behind -__- which i am not used to how ever witht he help of kashima and kadesha we managed to make the table for a total of 8 boxes. The only thing is figuring out the functions for 3 more charts. Once we are done with that we have to move onto graphing while the other two start writing the report. FYI Wan I HATE this project is stressing !

Oprah Winfrey
Oprah Winfrey is an aid activist and she encourages youth at her sdchool to take hiv tests and get tested. She encourages everyone to do so, because this devastating diseases is taking over our youth. one of her quotes is, "My philosphy is that not only are you responsible for your life, but doing the best at this moment puts you in the best place for the next moment."

Questions on Project
1. do we have to make an actual box during this project
2. How long is this project going to take ?
3. How will we find the information about the boxes from the fedex express, fedEx Ground, and UPS?
4. will you be able to help us with this project.
5. Why wasnt the ratio given to us ?
6. Is this practice pbat or the beginning of the actual pbat
7. How many steps are int ehis project?
